STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST
ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST
STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:
SB: What is your favorite song?
AM: Gah Stereoqueen by Stela Cole. But you probably already knew that because you put her first!!
SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?
AM: Nah. But I cannot BELIEVE Lykke Li wasn’t honored on this site before now! My roommate in college jammed to her OG music for hours. Hearing her again makes me feel nostalgic for those times.
SB: Improvised music (singing or music generation) is a talent so high in the stratosphere for me. It’s the reason I’ll watch hours of studio session clips to see that one moment when it clicks or see a street performer freestyle something off the top of the dome. Is there a live moment or clip you can recall where someone riffs and it works?
AM: Mmm I don’t think it’s going to stop you in your tracks here to say that really anytime I’m out in the world and I hear a sax player I’m immediately drawn to it. I’ll follow it for blocks until I find the source. Sit outside someone’s window listening in a non-creepy way. It’s to the point where my friends in other states and countries will send me little videos or photos when they see one because they know I love it so much. I know that’s not a specific riff like you asked, but it’s just an overall feeling I get. Sometimes I wonder if mom or dad played the sax while they were pregnant with me…
ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:
AM: What is your favorite song?
SB: So torn on this one. Was just going to give it flat out KOLA’s Love Myself, but then you’re hiding Homer’s So Get Up in the back and that chorus slaps. But yeah still gotta give the nod to KOLA.
AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?
SB: Wayside and Space.
AM: For you, personally, what’s the most important meal of the day? (A cocktail can be a meal, btw.)
SB: Haha you know me well. This one’s easy-ish. Mainly the ish because I break it up between weekday and weekend. Weekdays, it’s lunch. Barely eat any breakfast and dinner is always a scramble with the kiddos. Lunch is my chance (when time provides) to make a nice salad that’s both filling and healthy. But then on the weekends I pretty much skip breakfast and lunch and chow down at a nice dinner.
